My books tend to feature a lot of boats. The ICE Interceptor, Kurt’s old center console, and Kurt’s new to him twin-engine RHIB are staples of the Kurt Hunter Mystery Series. My opportunity to feature other boats is often with the bad guys.
In Backwater Connection, there are two boats on opposite ends of the spectrum. The first, a Carolina Skiff is an integral part of the inciting incident. The other is a high-end custom boat built by Fountain.
The Fountain
I needed something fast, a boat that could hang with or beat the 72mph speed of the ICE Interceptor. Fountain came through with this flashy boat.
The Carolina Skiff
I selected the Carolina Skiff because of an ad visually showing it as unsinkable. For what it’s worth, I didn’t sink it—it swamped, in a storm like this. The boat is a low-frills utilitarian vessel. The newer styles are much nicer than the old standard flat-bottomed boats.
Thanks
Can't wait for the next book in the Hunter series and anything else you write, actually.
